The Northwestern Highway Service Drive Road Construction Project continues to progress. The project began in May along the northbound M-10/Northwestern Highway Service Drive. It originally started at 8 Mile and has been expanded further north along the M-1o service drive. It is expected to be completed by late October.

Friedman Integrated Real Estate Solutions has arranged an 11,754-square-foot office lease at the Kenmar building, located at 17515 W. Nine Mile Road, Suite 600, in Southfield, a northern Detroit suburb. The landlord, TNHYIF TRS INC., leased the space to Language Center International Inc. (LCI), which teaches English as a second language. Established in 1987, the private language school provides citizens, immigrants and non-immigrants with language training for academic or personal purposes.
The Kenmar Building is 12-story, 140,417-square-foot building that was constructed in 1969. Rick Tabbi of Friedman represented the landlord in the transaction.
“The vibrant activity in and around this building is another example of the increased vibrancy in and around the DDA,” said Southfield DDA Executive Director Al Aceves. “It also will support and supplement other infrastructure improvements that are occurring throughout the district.”
“This location continues to transform the DDA into a vibrant area and supports all of the other infrastructure improvement occurring in the district,” Aceves added.
Representatives from the Southfield DDA will be at the Inno-vention Reception, sponsored by Oakland County’s Medical Main Street on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at Petruzzello’s Banquet Hall in Rochester from 6-9 p.m.
The Southfield DDA has been working with Medical Main Street, and has exhibited at its Inno-vention event for nearly five years. This reception serves as a networking event, with more than 250 attendees from healthcare, medical device, biotech, life science and the pharmaceutical industry expected to be in attendance. The Inno-vator of the Year Award will be announced during this event.
These healthcare related industries continue to be a focus of the Southfield DDA’s ongoing development efforts as healthcare related businesses or physician offices make up a large percentage of businesses within the DDA’s borders.

The Southfield family was extremely saddened to learn about the passing of Fire Chief Keith Rowley earlier this month, who had worked for the Southfield Fire Department since 1979, and served as Chief starting in 2013.
Visitation for Chief Rowley will take place on Friday, Aug.7, 2015 at Desmond Funeral Home, 32515 Woodward Avenue, Royal Oak, MI; phone: 248-549-0500 from 2 – 8 p.m. (family only from 1-2 p.m.).
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015 at Christian Tabernacle, 26555 Franklin Road, Southfield, MI; phone: 248-213-4770 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon (family only 9:30-10 a.m.). Pastor James Morman will be officiating.
After the funeral service, a wake will take place at the Southfield Pavilion located at 26000 Evergreen Road, Southfield, MI 48076 at 1 p.m.
