Representatives from the City of Southfield and the Southfield DDA are planning a trip to Grand Rapids in April to learn more about the success of the Grand Rapids Medical Mile and how those successes can be brought to the City of Southfield Healthcare Technology Center.
Known locally in West Michigan as “The Hill,” the trip will help city and DDA leaders to learn about the challenges that have come with this growing area in Grand Rapids. A panel discussion with some key Medical Mile stakeholders and executives is being developed specifically for Southfield officials.
This multi-billion dollar section of Michigan Street has transformed the heart of downtown Grand Rapids into a world-class health care destination. It is home to the area’s premier clinical, research, and academic institutions, including Spectrum Health Medical Center, consisting of the Meijer Heart Center, Van Andel Research Institute, Michigan State University College of Human Medicine – Secchia Center, Cook-DeVos Center for Health Sciences – Grand Valley State University, Lemmon-Holton Cancer Pavilion, and Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.
